Commercial Contracts Manager
Hybrid (Leicester) | Full-Time | Permanent role
Start ASAP
Are you an inquisitive self-starter with a sharp legal mind and commercial edge? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, consultancy-led environment where contracts form the backbone of strategic success?
An award-winning organisation within energy management and sustainability consultancy, Consultus is looking for a Commercial Contracts Manager to take ownership of our commercial arrangements and support our ambitious growth plans.
Why join us?
At Consultus, we deliver more than consultancy – we enable meaningful change. Whether we’re helping businesses transition to Net Zero or negotiating multi-million-pound service agreements, we lead with insight, integrity, and impact. You’ll be central to making that happen.
Your mission
You'll be our go-to expert on all things contracts – commercially minded and legally sharp. Taking the lead on drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing a wide range of commercial agreements, you’ll own the full contract lifecycle and provide guidance to business teams on legal and contractual developments, without relying on the legal team. You’ll help shape the foundations of new partnerships and projects across the Consultus Group.
From detailed NDAs to complex service agreements tailored to each client, you’ll keep us covered, compliant, and commercially astute. What’s more, you’ll support our Net Zero divisions in building brand-new contract frameworks from the ground up, including implementation-focused and design & build contracts for sustainability projects; a rare chance to create, influence, and lead from the start.
What you’ll be doing
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including service agreements, NDAs, licensing, partnership, design & build, and procurement contracts
Collaborate with sales, finance, and project teams to ensure alignment on contract terms and business objectives
Provide clear, pragmatic guidance on contractual risk, compliance, and legal developments, including mitigation strategies
Manage the co-ordination and production of responses to RFPs and tenders
Monitor contract performance and manage the contract lifecycle from initiation through renewal or termination
Support company sourcing policy and maintain a central repository of contracts
Develop and maintain standard contract templates and best practices
Lead or support contract negotiations with customers, vendors, and partners
Assist with the resolution of contract-related disputes or issues
Act as a strategic partner across teams, aligning contracts with business goals
What you’ll bring
Strong, hands-on experience leading commercial contract work, ideally within a consultancy, service-led, or implementation-focused business
A proactive and inquisitive mindset with the confidence to independently draft, assess, and advise on commercial clauses, providing practical legal guidance without reliance on a dedicated legal team
The ability to manage contracts from start to finish; preparation, negotiation, implementation, and resolution
Strong understanding of contract law, commercial terms, and risk assessment
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects
Experience in improving the processes and strategy of a commercial team is a plus
Certification in contract management (e.g., IACCM/WorldCC) is advantageous
Your credentials
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field; legal qualification is a plus
2+ years’ experience in commercial contracts management, legal, or procurement
What you’ll get
A competitive salary and benefits package – discussed upon application
Flexible hybrid working
A collaborative, purpose-driven culture
The chance to shape the commercial foundation of our Net Zero and sustainability work
Additional incentives and bonuses
